BEFORE SCHOOL
The library is open from 8am daily and students are encouraged to engage in reading, reflection and research. It’s a great chance for Middle and Senior students to prepare for lessons and to seek help with assessment work. For Primary students it’s a popular time to visit with parents and to read a book together. Please note that board games, drawing and the dolls’ house are not available before school. DURING THE DAY Library spaces are used for reading, classes, small group tasks, book exchanges, research, relaxation and quiet study. Students may use Macbooks and ipads in the library, but for school related work only. Mobile phones, as per classroom expectations are not to be used in the library. DURING LUNCH During 1st lunch for Primary and 2nd lunch for Middle/Secondary, students have access to the library and our Year 6 -12 library monitors assist with library tasks. Primary lunchtime activities include computers, board games, chess, colouring and drawing, dolls’ house, Lego, Makerspace activities and the Primary Book Club is held every Thursday at first lunch. The Middle/Senior students also have access to a wide range of activities and the Secondary Book Club runs weekly on Thursdays. Students from Year 7-12 are encouraged to consider helping as a Library Monitor and to see library staff for an application. AFTER SCHOOL Parents are welcome to visit before and after school with their child/ren to borrow/return books and to see what’s happening in the library. Parents can also borrow items from the library. We have a specific area in the collection that includes a range of parenting books. |
